Traditional Yoga

Aerial Yoga 

People with heart failure or spinal problems cannot do aerial yoga, which is sometimes called anti-gravity yoga. It uses a hanging silk hammock instead of a mat, and people suspending themselves on the hammock use gravity to do traditional yoga poses.

There are different types of yoga though, such as hot Yoga that is similar to traditional.

Aerial Yoga 

Disadvantages 

  • Not safe for those recovering from injuries as there is a higher chance of re-injuring themselves. 
  • Pregnant women should not participate as it may put them and their child in danger. 
  • Those who feel dizzy easily or have a fear of falling/weak balance will find it hard to enjoy the experience.

Practicing aerial yoga has many benefits which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Releasing endorphins
  • Being more aware of your breathing
  • Increasing core strength
  • Enhancing balance
  • Making it easier to perform inverted postures
  • deepening stretches and bringing more flexibility 
  • relieving tension
  • releasing joint pressure.

Aerial yoga is not only excellent for building flexibility and range of motion, but the inverted hanging positions create a deep sense of peace and relaxation for most people--it feels like being in a cocoon. This cannot be replicated with traditional yoga on the ground.
