Make Delicious Ice Cream At Home With A Machine

Making ice cream at home is a piece of cake...or rather, cone! If you have an ice cream machine, simply follow the recipe below. The result will be some delicious, freshly-churned vanilla soft serve. But feel free to get creative and customize the recipe by adding your favorite mix-ins like crushed cookies or chocolate chunks. No matter what you add in, we're sure it'll taste great!

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 3/4 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions 

  1. To make the best possible milkshake, heat milk on low till it's only hot (not boiling!) and mix in heavy whipping cream and sugar. Keep stirring until the mixture is smooth without any clumps of sugar. Then add vanilla extract before chilling the mixture for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
  2. After pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and following the directions on how to churn it, you can either serve it immediately or let it freeze for 2-3 hours. You have the option of eating it as is or adding some delicious toppings such as a gooey brownie or freshly-baked pie!

Make Ice Cream without a Machine

An ice cream machine makes the job a whole lot easier, but if you don't have one, we've got you covered! We'll show you two simple methods to make homemade ice cream without having to purchase an expensive and bulky machine! And the best part is that each of these recipes can be customized with your favorite flavors- from mint chip to caramel, Nutella, rocky road, peanut butter mocha cookies n cream blueberry and beyond!

Ice Cream made with only TWO ingredients!

Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Pour in a can of sweetened condensed milk that has been chilled and fold it in gently so as not to let all the air out. Time to get creative! Add your favorite flavors- chocolate chunks, caramel, sprinkles- or whatever else sounds good to you.

Slowly mix in any desired add-ins to the base mixture, using an electric mixer on low speed. Afterwards, move the mixture into an airtight resealable container and cover with plastic wrap. Freeze for a minimum of six hours or until ice cream is solidified. Finally, dig in and enjoy!

Making ice cream in a food processor is simple and straightforward

  1. Follow the recipe directions for any ice cream base, such as the vanilla ice cream recipe above. Then, once you have made the mixture: 
  2. Pour it into a zip lock baggie.
  3. Carefully squeeze all of the air out until the bag lies flat againstthe mixture.
  4. Seal shut and freeze overnight for best results!
  5. Take the bag out of the fridge and break the frozen base into large chunks. Don't turn it into powder, but make sure the pieces are small enough to fit into your food processor. 
  6. Pulse on high speed until there aren't any ice cream chunks left. 
  7. If you want to add flavoring or other ingredients, do so now. Gently fold them into the mixture or pulse again until you get your desired consistency.
  8. Pour mixture into an airtight container.
  9. Keep this meal in the freezer, and it'll be fresh and ready to eat when you're finally hungry.
  10. Enjoy!
