Thailand, known to many as the "Land of Smiles," is one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful countries. From stunning natural scenery to rich cultural history and vibrant nightlife, there is something for everyone in Thailand. Here are some of the best attractions that travelers have to offer in this incredible country.

If you're looking for a place that has both modern comforts and the opportunity to explore new things, Thailand is perfect. With increasing tourism, there are plenty of activities and amenities available, yet it still retains its cultural heritage. From stunning beaches to highland monasteries, you won't be disappointed with what Thailand has to offer as a travel destination.

Though business may boom in cities like Chiang Mai and Bangkok, you haven't truly explored Thailand until you've hiked through its mountains or spent time with the elephants and monkeys that call this country home. From unique food experiences to manifold tourist attractions, each stop on your Thai adventure will give you a story worth telling.

Erawan Falls

Erawan Falls is the main attraction at Erawan Park in Thailand, located just a short drive from Kanchanaburi. The waterfall gets its name from the Hindu mythological creature, the three-headed white elephant known as Erawan. It is said that the seven-tiered waterfall represents this mythical beast. Visitors to the park can often see macaques and water monitor lizards around the falls. The park is open to tourists all year round and weekends are usually very busy.

The Grand Palace

King Rama I ordered the construction of the Grand Palace in 1782, near the Chao Phraya River, for defensive purposes. The palace wasn't completed until early 1800s but today it stands as one of Bangkok's most popular tourist attractions after no dignitary has resided there since 1925. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, or Wat Phra Kaew, is another beautiful temple that shouldn't be missed. This Palace is a top destination for tourists worldwide-approximately eight million people visit each year.

Koh Phangan

Make your way to the large island of Koh Phangan by boat and explore its many popular tourist sites. Take asong teow (Thai tuk-tuk) ride around the steeper areas of the island. While you're here, be sure not to miss out on an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive at Sail Rock, considered one of the best diving spots on all of Koh Phangan's coast.

Make your way to Haad Rin for an unforgettable full-moon party. What started as a small gathering has now become a popular event for locals and tourists alike. There will be plenty of drinking, dancing, and socializing.

Mo Ko Aang Thong Ang Thong, or "Golden Bowl," is a world-renowned national park in Thailand's Gulf. The park is based on an original 42 islands that are close to one another, making island hopping easy for visitors. Travelers can enjoy bungalows with stunning views of the other islands and rock formations while staying here. A common day trip from nearby Ko Samui lets tourists explore the unblemished white sandy beaches and snorkel through coral reef gardens.

Wat Arun, Bangkok

The Wat Arun Ratchawararam, also called the Temple of Dawn, got its name from an event in 1768. As the story goes, King Taksin was coming back from a battle at Ayutthaya and saw the temple when dawn broke. He thought it looked like the Indian god Aruna and named the spot after him. This Thailand monument is especially famous for its 80-meter tall prang (a type of spire). People say it's even taller than some of the other notable buildings in Thailand! If you go see it yourself, you'll understand why people love to take pictures here; when sunlight hits those porcelain spires just right, they look almost alive with light.

The largest and most popular tourist destination in Thailand, Phuket offers visitors beautiful white sand beaches, aquamarine waters, and relatively affordable travel costs. From Patong Beach to Phuket Town, there are plenty of options for ways to spend your time on the island. And no trip to Phuket would be complete without taking a boat tour of the surrounding islands - an ideal way to enjoy some snorkeling or scuba diving.

Although you can visit Thailand any time of year, the best travel season is November to April. Get your suitcase ready and be sure to add these amazing attractions in Thailand to your list!
